Project Overview #
For this 2025 Audi installation, 100 RGBW addressable strips (50 per side) are controlled by 8 Powered LEC controllers to create a spectacular LED light show on the vehicle.
Why RGBW for Automotive #
RGBW (Red, Green, Blue, White) strips offer key advantages for automotive:
Dedicated white channel: RGB strips driving all three channels for white increases current and heat. RGBW’s dedicated white LED reduces both — important in enclosed automotive spaces.
Colour accuracy: Dedicated white produces a more neutral tone than RGB mixing.
Extended colour gamut: RGBW can produce pastel tones difficult to achieve with pure RGB.
Powered LEC in Automotive #
The integrated power supply of the Powered LEC simplifies installation:
- Single cable run from the vehicle’s power source to the controller
- No separate power supply unit required per zone
- Compact form factor fits in tight automotive spaces
- Industrial-grade reliability for continuous vibration environments
Symmetrical Installation #
50 strips on each side achieve perfect visual symmetry. Both sides are mapped as mirrored zones in LED Strip Studio — a single animation appears identical on both sides from any viewing angle.
